When I think about the holidays, I can’t help but think about sitting down for a big family dinner, and the great food I can enjoy the next day. I mean, who doesn’t love a good leftover? However, for some people, having a delicious holiday meal isn’t always a reality. I recently had the opportunity to join my public affairs coworkers at Frito-Lay to volunteer at the North Texas Food Bank, which provides nearly 175,000 nutritious meals every day in our community through a number of programs.
We spent the afternoon boxing up more than 10,000 pounds of canned goods such as peanut butter, vegetables and pasta that were distributed to a variety of agencies through the North Texas area. It was an amazing experience to be a part of something so caring and giving, and to know the food we packed would have such an impact on hundreds of families. Below are a few photos from our day volunteering, one that I won't soon forget. I encourage everyone to visit the North Texas Food Bank website and to check out their partner organization Feeding America to learn how you can get involved in your community.
