In case you weren't aware, August is National Sandwich Month in the United States. Every year, the average American eats 193 sandwiches a year -- that's more than 45 billion sandwiches total! When you consider the seemingly infinite variety of ingredients, it's almost a surprise we don't eat even more sandwiches.
Whether you're getting ready to enjoy a hero, grinder, hoagie, panini, reuben or a simple PB&J, nothing goes better with a sandwich than the perfect Frito-Lay snack. Check out a few of my favorite sandwich sidekicks below:
- Lay's Classic potato chips is an iconic pairing to a great sandwich. Growing up, my favorite lunch was a ham sandwich with plenty of yellow mustard and a side of Lay's Classic potato chips.
- Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream potato chips is a great accompaniment to a hot submarine sandwich. I'm a huge fan of adding these chips to the side of a chopped beef or cheesesteak sandwich.
- SunChips Sweet & Spicy BBQ snacks is a recent favorite of mine. The multigrain crunch and robust sweet barbecue flavor -- with a hint of spice -- goes great with a roasted turkey sandwich topped with creamy pesto and thinly sliced red onion.
- Fritos Original corn chips is another nostalgic favorite of mine. I like to add them directly to my peanut butter sandwiches as a quick post-run meal. The chips also go great with a Sloppy Joe (plus you can use them to dip up anything that falls out of the bread!).
