Today on Snack Chat, we’re excited to share a blog post from guest blogger Denise Chochrek, Senior Knowledge Analyst in R&D for Frito-Lay, who is doing great things as co-captain of the Cheesy Riders cycling team. Take it away, Denise!
I first got involved with Cheesy Riders five years ago after learning of the group’s involvement with Bike MS, an annual bike ride sponsored by the National MS Society. As someone who’s been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, I appreciated the money they raised for MS research and wanted to do my part to help.
A little background: Our group is a part of a national cycling team comprised of PepsiCo employees, retirees and contractors, as well as their families and friends. We also are a partner of EnAble, PepsiCo's employee resource group that raises awareness of the needs of people with different abilities and the value they bring to our organization and society at large, and encourages an active lifestyle while supporting charities.
Over the past few years, we've expanded to support other great rides in the area. As co-captain of this year’s team, I’m happy to announce that in 2013 we will again participate in Bike MS in May, and this Fall we will participate in the Red Balloon Ride, which raises money for Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
Cheesy Riders is a great team of cyclists that is open to all skill levels. We organize training rides that are fun for everyone, from the beginner to the seasoned veteran. Plus, cycling is a great way to stay healthy and get plenty of exercise. I encourage anyone interested in joining our team or coming out to an event to visit our website and get in touch with us. We’re happy to talk to anyone interested, especially if they want to be Cheesy.
