A few years ago, some friends approached me about creating a Movember team. Movember is a month-long event in which men grow moustaches to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men during November. The invitation to start a team came on the heels of some news involving a family member and prostate cancer, so I was eager to do my part. While I don't grow the most impressive moustache, or "mo" as we "insiders" like to call it, I was proud to be able to learn more about the diseases that affect men and what preventative measures men can take.
This year, I'm happy to join some of my fellow Frito-Lay employees on the PepsiCo Movember team. Despite only being two days into the month, our network of "Mo Bros" and "Mo Sistas" has already raised more than $20,000! The money raised during this year's Movember will support innovative, world-class programs in three areas: awareness/education, survivorship and research. I look forward to keeping you all updated on the progress of my Mo (my Day 2 progress is on the right) as well as sharing stories about a few of my Mo Bros over the next month.
For now, check out the video below to learn a little more about Movember and its impact on awareness.
