Over the summer, I wrote about how volunteers from PepsiCo and Frito-Lay were giving back to the Chicago community by helping Feed the Children, a non-profit organization that provides hope and resources for those in need. It wasn't our first event with Feed the Children this year, and it certainly wasn't our last. Recently, we partnered with the organization to bring two semi tractor-trailers full of food and essentials to help 800 families living in the Miami area.
In Miami, 45 percent of children live below the poverty line. Feed The Children partner agency Overtown Youth Center and other local organizations identified families to receive the boxes of non-perishable food and personal care items, which are designed to help support a family of four for up to one week. More than 50 volunteers from PepsiCo and Feed The Children helped distribute the items as part of Feed The Children's Americans Feeding Americans Caravan, which has helped more than 425,000 families across the country since 2009.
I recently sat down with Kathy Cloud, Manager of Community Affairs for Frito-Lay, to learn a little more about our efforts with Feed the Children. Have a listen to our podcast below and check out the Feed the Children website to learn more about how you can help.
