Recently, I shared our plan to attempt to build the world's largest Fritos Chili Pie as a part of our celebration of the 80th anniversary of Fritos corn chips. This morning we put that plan to action at the State Fair of Texas and set the Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Fritos Chili Pie! As thousands of hungry fairgoers watched, the final Fritos Corn Chips were added to the pie, which weighed in at 1,325 lbs. -- including 635 bags of Fritos corn chips (10 1/2 ounces each), 660 cans of Hormel Chili without Beans and 580 bags of shredded cheddar cheese (8 ounces each).
Immediately after we set the world record, we went to work making sure to pass out every last bite of Fritos Chili Pie to fair attendees, along with samples of Pepsi beverages. Almost three hours after sprinkling the last of the Fritos chips on the pie, we handed out the final of more than 5,000 individual servings.
We send out a big thank you to our Fritos chips fans for helping make this a truly happy -- and record-setting -- 80th anniversary for the iconic snack brand! I hope you enjoy some pictures we took at the event.
