Lately, I’ve found that my snack choices are evolving, and some of my favorites right now are Tostitos Scoops, Stacy's Pita Chips and Baked! Lay's.
I blogged about the Baked! Lay's Southwestern Ranch earlier this year and explained the new flavoring process: Real herbs and spices are baked into the dough to deliver a richer and more complex flavor (versus the seasonings being applied to the chips after baking). Apparently a lot of people appreciate this baked-in flavor -- in fact, they have become one of Frito-Lay's top-selling new snacks this year.
So I'm happy to tell you that this week Frito-Lay introduces Baked! Lay's Parmesan and Tuscan Herb, a new flavor that uses the same baked-in flavor process as the Southwestern Ranch flavor. Since I’ll have to wait to actually try them until they arrive at my local supermarket, I called Katherine Karim (pictured below), Baked! Lay's Brand Manager, to learn more.
"When I open the bag and bring the chip to my lips, I first smell the parmesan cheese," she told me. "And when I bite into the chip, I get hit with the good cheese flavor. Then there’s an unexpected kick of flavors that I taste at the end -- garlic, herbs and peppers.”
She told me that if I like the Southwestern Ranch flavor, I would really love the Parmesan and Tuscan Herb Baked! Lay’s. “They make a great snack on their own, but I think you'd like them with a sandwich at lunch too," Katherine said.
Her description is too tantalizing. I can't wait to try them.
Katherine also gave me the skinny on the product’s nutritional information. Each 1-oz serving contains just 120 calories and 3 grams of fat, and they’re gluten free.
This weekend, I plan to pick up two bags of Baked! Lay's Parmesan and Tuscan Herb -- one for myself and one to take to a party Saturday night and share with some of my fellow Frito-Lay retirees. Like me, they still enjoy trying new Frito-Lay products.
P.S. Look for a coupon for Baked! Lay’s Parmesan and Tuscan Herb in your local paper on Sunday, Jan. 3.
Don't eat chips often, but just picked up a bag of the NEW PARMESAN & TUSCAN HERB BAKED LAY'S to go with a turkey sandwich. I have to say...THEY ARE THE BEST POTATO CHIPS I HAVE EVER HAD!!! WOW!!! I may just become a regular potato chip eater with this new find!! THANK YOU and please keep them around!

They smell good in the bag, but they really should hint on the packaging about the heavy peppery flavor. 3 chips and my mouth is still stinging. I know I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spicy foods, but I wouldn't have spent the $3.79 if I'd known :( I do, however, LOVE the Baked Doritos :)

I fell in love with these at first bite, but can't find them any more. When on the Lay's website, on the where to buy tab, it said they can't be found within a 50 mile radius of any of the city zips I put in. Where can I get them? I'm really building up a craving!

Hi, Sue. These are delicious chips! Our product locator is the best tool to find stores near you that carry specific snacks. You can also try amazon.com - sometimes our distributors sell certain chips on the site. Good luck - Kristin
