I don't know how you feel, but I'd like to turn on the TV, the radio or go online and see less bad news and hear more stories that feature the good side of human nature. That's why I'm glad to see TrueNorth, Frito-Lay's line of 100% natural nut snacks, continues to highlight the good side of humanity with the launch of a new campaign, “TrueNorth Story of the Month,” to share the inspiring stories of how people are pursuing their passions and helping others.
In February, I blogged about the TrueNorth ad that debuted during the Academy Awards show -- a 60-second commercial that brought to life the story of Lisa Nigro's Inspiration Cafe, a restaurant in Chicago that serves the homeless with dignity and respect.
And, the brand will continue honoring inspirational stories like Lisa’s by celebrating "TrueNorth Stories of the Month," from now through December -- recognizing people who are pursuing their passions and making a difference. For June, TrueNorth features the first group of winning stories -- four "true norths" that consumers submitted earlier this year -- Jennifer Dempsey from Colorado, Nancy Heussner from Michigan, Eric Kapitulik from Massachusetts and Mack McCarter from Louisiana. You can learn more about each of their stories from the TrueNorth Web site.
Starting in July, TrueNorth will introduce one new inspirational story each month -- and you’re invited to participate. All you have to do is submit a written essay that describes how you are pursuing your life's passion and the impact it has on your family, neighborhood or community. Selected stories will be featured on the Web site, and each author will be awarded a $1,000 grant to help continue the pursuit of their "true north."
Who knows, maybe the TrueNorth stories will inspire news programs and media outlets to celebrate more of the good things that people are doing to make the world a better place.
