While I'm at home recovering from lithotripsy, I’m glad to see my buddy Chester Cheetah is riding high, thanks to the launch of Giant Cheetos. Earlier this month, I blogged about this new product and discussed how Chester has grown up -- now targeting an adult audience instead of kids. Since Giant Cheetos hit store shelves, it has really struck a chord with this young adult target -- both store sales and the online buzz about the product are soaring.
To start with, you can go to YouTube and watch the Giant Cheetos commercial as well as numerous fun home videos that Chester's fans have created. I've been enjoying them while convalescing at home.
You can also Google "Giant Cheetos" and read about people’s first impressions after discovering this exciting new product. Some people thought it was an April Fool’s joke instead of real product news. And, those who have tried Giant Cheetos are impressed.
Andrea Deckard (her self-created avatar is on the right), who writes a blog called Mommy Snacks that provides useful tips to save, earn, live and learn, says both she and her kids like Giant Cheetos. Andrea was a part of a group of women bloggers who recently went to Los Angeles for the kick-off of our new Only in a Woman's World campaign. While in L.A., she also toured a Frito-Lay manufacturing plant, saw how Cheetos are made and tasted some hot off the line (which she blogged were “amazing”).
Consumers’ reactions to and the speed in which word spread about Giant Cheetos are excellent examples of how much marketing has changed in the last decade thanks to the Internet. It's no longer just about airing commercials on TV and creating print ads, but rather, the Internet has put consumers in control of messaging -- helping decide the fate of new products. I hope Cheetos’ young adult audience keeps buzzing about Giant Cheetos online. Tell me what you think of Giant Cheetos.
I wish Frito/Lay had a "comments" place on their site so we could tell them what we think of their products. As far as the Giant Cheetos. I hate them. There is no easy way to eat them. Either you try to take a bite and you hurt your gums or you pop the whole thing in your mouth and chomp it for 2 minutes. As delicious as I think Cheetos are, (and I love Cheetos) I don't see the positive in them at all.

My kids have always loved Cheetos and were enthused to try the new Giant Cheetos! I myself, still prefer the regular sized Cheetos that I grew up on. My kids on the other hand, think the new Giant Cheetos are really cool!

Tried the new Cheetos Giant and I would never purchase them again. Terribly hard to eat and when you eat off the cheese, the inside is "ugly".
Suggest you take them off the market.

I love the new Giant Cheetos! Now only if you could also offer them in bacon flavor I would be in Cheeto nirvana! Please bring back the bacon flavor!!
