Last week, eight Frito-Lay senior leaders traveled from headquarters in Plano, Texas, to Buffalo, N.Y., to recognize our West New York Sales Zone -- including Buffalo and nearby towns -- as Frito-Lay’s 2008 “Zone of the Year” and to celebrate with the 160 zone associates who worked diligently throughout 2008 to deliver exceptional results in sales, profitability and employee retention.
Vice President of Sales Randy Melville, Northeast Region Vice President of Sales Neil Pryor and several other senior leaders presented the prestigious award to the zone team, which beat out our other 125 zones to win the title -- quite a win!
Afterward, the senior leaders personally served lunch to all 160 associates, who were mostly Route Sales Representatives – the Frito-Lay employees you see driving our route trucks and delivering and stocking our snacks in stores nearly every day. They were taking a rare break from their sales routes to attend the celebration.
When asked how it felt to be No. 1, Mike Farmer, the West New York Zone Sales Leader, (pictured at podium) replied, “Humbling and exhilarating. We'll see you again next year!" Mike’s team describes his leadership style as hands-on and motivating and credits him for the ability to take a good team and made them great – and now they are “Frito-Lay’s Zone of the Year” for 2008.
And, Mike’s response is a testament to the energy and dedication of Frito-Lay’s people – they have a spirit and passion that is unrivaled. And, we appreciate and celebrate this passion, which is why it’s so important to recognize the hard work and successes of our employees. We do it often and we do it proudly, as recognition is part of our company’s culture.
Congratulations to the West New York team!
